ABS brake systems must also be tested on a smooth road surface.

TCL's low friction track has a surface of melted-basalt tiles. Sprinkler installions on both sides of the track provide the required degree of low friction. The properties of the wetted surface closely resemble those of dry ice. For testing ABS systems, the low friction track is fitted on either side with strips of concrete and asphalt with friction coefficients of approx.
0.7 µ and 0.6 µ respectively. Like all TCL's test track surfaces, these strips meet the highest standards of flatness and reproducible friction. The track combinations enable split-µ testing, i.e. examining brake performance on road surfaces with different frictional resistances on the left and the right side of the vehicle.
