End-of-series
Due to the more severe requirements of regulations the validity of type-approvals of vehicles that do not comply with these requirements will expire. Consequently, such vehicles can no longer be registered, unless these have been reported as 'End-of-series' by the manufacturer or an authorized party, and have been marked as End-of-series by the registering authority. During a fixed, limited period, registration can take place in the country in which the request for End-of-series was made.
The article titled ‘Report as End-of-series at RDW’ explains how End-of-series is reported at RDW. Besides, an overview is given of the various End-of-series terms. The enclosed table (2012 expiry dates) is meant to serve as a tool for type-approval holders to define the expiry moment of type-approvals. It includes the moment at which a request for End-of-series needs to be made.
