Apply for a driving licence after loss or theft

Do you live outside the European Union or European Free Trade Association and your driving licence has been lost or stolen? Please apply for a new Dutch driving licence with us. We do require a Dutch correspondence address. We do not send mail abroad.

1. Request an application form here. We will send this form to your Dutch correspondence address as soon as possible.
2. Please send the original application form (not a copy) accompanied by a colour passport photo (check the requirements) and a copy of a valid passport or ID to RDW, Unit Rijbewijzen, Postbus 9000, 9640 HA Veendam.
3. Pay the fee. This can be done by direct debit. Check out Fees for more information.
4. We will respond within 10 working days.
5. Once your application is approved, we will send the driving licence to the Dutch correspondence address you provided us with. If we are unable to deliver the driving licence, we will send you a letter.

Applying with the municipality

You will pay the fee for a new driving licence to your municipality. Your municipality can provide you with more information.

Applying with the RDW

If you live in a country outside the European Union, you will pay the fee of a new driving licence to us. This can be done by direct debit, or you can transfer the amount to account number 47 72 56 600 – IBAN NL25ABNA0477256600 in the name of the RDW.

When making the payment, please state:

• your driving licence number
• your personal details

Are you transferring the fee from abroad? Please include the BIC code ABNANL2A and the International Banking Code NL25ABNA0477256600 when making the payment.
