Apply for a driving licence after loss or theft
Was your Dutch driving licence stolen or lost? How to apply for a (new) licence depends on where you live.
Conditions
You can only apply for a Dutch driving licence after loss or theft under the following conditions:
- You have an EU nationality and
- You live in the Netherlands and are registered with a Dutch municipality or
- You live in a country outside the European Union and outside Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland (EFTA)
Where do I apply for the driving licence
- Do you live in the Netherlands? Please visit your municipality.
Bring a colour passport photo and a valid ID. Check the photo requirements. - Do you live outside the EU or EFTA ? Please apply for a new Dutch driving licence with the RDW. You will find more information at Apply at RDW.
- Do you live in an EU or EFTA country? You cannot apply for a new Dutch driving licence. Please apply for a new licence in your country of residence. You will probably need a Certificate of Authenticity (only available in Dutch).
