Dutch driving licence abroad

If you are abroad temporarily, for example for a holiday or work, and your stay does not exceed eight months, you can continue to drive using your Dutch driving licence. If you are in a country outside the European Union, you may need an international driving licence. This is a translation of your driving licence into multiple languages. Please ask the embassy of the country where you are staying or travelling to. You can apply for an international driving licence at the ANWB. Are you moving to a country outside the European Union or European Free Trade Association? Ask the authorities in your country of residence whether you are allowed to keep using your Dutch driving licence.

If you are moving to a country within the European Union or the European Free Trade Association, you may continue to drive with your Dutch driving licence for a certain period. The exact duration depends on local regulations, so please check with the authorities in your country of residence.
