Making, changing or cancelling an inspection appointment

1. You are present fifteen minutes before the inspection. During that time, we collect your documents and payment, and transfer the vehicle to your name if necessary. As a result, there is no need for you to return to the desk after the inspection.
2. We review and process the documents. The administrative processing takes up about 40 percent of the technical inspection.
3. At our request, you drive or roll the vehicle into the inspection hall. Use of a trailer is not allowed. The inspector records the vehicle details and checks them against the documents.
4. We will sometimes take photos of your vehicle.
5. It is now time for your vehicle inspection. We may ask for your help during the inspection.
6. The fee is collected at the inspection station in cash or by debit card.

Vehicle approved

1. Within 5 working days, we will send the vehicle registration certificate to the address of the person whose name the vehicle is registered in.
2. Do you have a paper registration certificate? We will send you a vehicle registration card and a registration code.
   
   

Submitting a tax declaration

In some cases, you are required to submit a tax declaration to the Tax and Customs Administration, and receive approval (BPM approval) before we can send out the vehicle registration certificate.

• Upon first registration of the vehicle in the Netherlands.
• When changing the registration of a passenger car, camper, motorcycle or commercial car weighing 3500 kg or less. For example, when converting a van into a campervan.
• Please consult belastingdienst.nl to learn more about when you must declare BPM.

Vehicle was rejected

1. We will send you an inspection report outlining the reasons for rejection. And any missing documents you may need to submit.
2. Once you have remedied the reasons for rejection, you can make an appointment for a control inspection. Additional charges apply. The control inspection must take place within 8 weeks of the rejection date. Failing this, we will carry out a full technical inspection, which incurs higher costs than a control inspection.

If you would like to register the vehicle in your own name but are unable to visit our station, you can have an RDW-approved company conduct the inspection.

Rescheduling

An existing appointment cannot be rescheduled. If you cannot make it, please cancel the appointment using the link in the confirmation email and schedule a new one.

Cancelling

To cancel your inspection appointment, use the link in the confirmation email.

Conditions

• Cancellations can only be made from the confirmation email we have sent you.
• Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 24 hours in advance.

 Late cancellation

If you cancel the appointment less than 24 hours in advance or fail to attend the appointment, the entire fee remains payable. We will send you the bill.

No confirmation email

If you no longer have the confirmation email or are unable to cancel using the link, you can cancel the appointment using DigiD or cancel with eHerkenning. Indicate that you wish to cancel the appointment and provide the order number and registration number or VIN.

Rescheduling or cancelling for an agricultural/construction vehicle or mobile machine

Please contact the inspection station where your appointment is scheduled using their email address.

The fee varies per inspection. The fee is stated under your inspection. Can’t find your inspection? You will be shown a cost overview when making the appointment.

Cancelling an appointment at test centre

Do you need to cancel an inspection appointment at our Lelystad test centre? Please send an email to cancel your appointment. Include the date and time of the appointment in the email.

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to two business days in advance. Are you cancelling the appointment less than 2 business days in advance? Or do you fail to attend the scheduled appointment? The fee will remain payable. We will send you the bill.
