RDW response following a message from Tesla

Tesla Europe published a message on X in which it once again mentioned a date on which it expects approval for its driver assistance system Full Self Driving Supervised (FSD Supervised).

We are aware that Tesla’s application is of great interest to many people, and we are receiving a large number of (media) questions about it. Given this significant interest and the many speculations surrounding the application, we would like to provide a brief response to Tesla’s message and its application. Under normal circumstances, RDW does not comment on manufacturers’ applications due to the market-sensitive nature of such information.

Assessment process

In its message, Tesla states that it is in the final phase of the assessment process. This is correct. Tesla and RDW are currently completing the final steps of the assessment process. Approximately 18 months ago, a joint intensive testing programme was initiated. Throughout this period, and particularly during the final phase, RDW conducts a thorough review of the test results and analyses the data. During this final phase, all data and test results are assessed, after which a decision will be taken on the approval of the FSD Supervised driver assistance system. For RDW, (road) safety is paramount.
