Check the registration card

If you are buying, selling, or suspending a car, you will need a valid registration certificate for that vehicle. Also, the registration code must match that registration card. You can check with us for free whether they match.

1. By clicking the button ‘Check the document number' you first check whether the registration card is valid. (only available in Dutch)
2. To do that, you fill in the registration number and the document number. You can find the document number on the front of the registration card or you received it from the car company where you are buying the vehicle
3. You will immediately see whether the registration card is valid.
4. Then you check, by clicking the button ‘Check the document number - registration code' if the registration card and the registration code match. (only available in Dutch)
5. To do this, fill in the document number and the registration code in 2 parts.
6. You will immediately see if the registration card and the registration code match.

- If it turns out that the registration card is not valid, you will need to apply for a new registration certificate to be able to transfer or suspend the vehicle.
- Does it turn out that the registration code and the registration card do not match and is the registration card valid? Then you must apply for a new registration code. You can download this code immediately.
