Extended validity of driving licences issued by non-EU countries
After the end of the 185-day period, you may continue to drive with your non-Dutch driving licence until 31 May. However, this is subject to the following conditions:
- you have a valid driving licence issued by your country of origin;
- the 185-day period ended after 16 March or is due to do so before 1 June.
In some cases, a driving licence from outside the EU may be exchanged for a Dutch drivinglicence. In other cases, you will have to take a theory and practical exam with the CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing).
