RDW Privacy Statement

This is the privacy statement of the RDW (the Netherlands Vehicle Authority). This privacy statement informs you how the RDW handles the personal data processed by the RDW. We also explain what personal information our websites and digital services collects from you and how we treat this information. Finally, we explain how you can obtain access to your personal data and exercise your other rights.

The RDW ensures that the personal information we process is treated confidentially and protected properly. We also ensure that we only process the personal data that are strictly necessary for the carrying out of our legal obligations. In this way the RDW respects the privacy of all citizens, clients and users.

The RDW is the so-called ‘controller’ within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means that the RDW decides what personal data are processed, for what purpose and in what manner.

The RDW is responsible for ensuring that your personal data are processed appropriately, with due care and in accordance with the GDPR. According to the GDPR, personal data encompass “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly.”
