Temporary extension to driving licence validity
The cabinet’s coronavirus measures mean
that it is not always possible to extend driving licences in time. To prevent
that driving licence holders experience problems because of this, Minister Cora
van Nieuwenhuizen from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has
decided that driving licences that expire after 16 March will remain valid
until 1 June 2020.
Scheme conditions
This scheme only applies to driving licence holders who have a driving licence that needs to be extended every 5 to 10 years. If the driving licence was issued less than 5 years ago you cannot use this scheme. This temporary measure only applies to driving within the Netherlands. People who live in the Netherlands with an expired EU driving licence also fall under this scheme.
