The RDW checks on a daily basis compliance with the inspection and insurance obligations

If a vehicle is registered in your name, you will be subject to a number of obligations that you must comply with. They include the obligations regarding APK roadworthiness testing and insurance.

Daily checks

The RDW checks on a daily basis whether vehicles comply with the inspection and insurance obligations. It does this by means of a register comparison, in which the inspection and insurance data are compared with the vehicle licence register data. Every vehicle is checked at least once a year for both obligations (100% check). The RDW carries out this supervisory task on behalf of the Ministry of Security and Justice.

If it is established that you are not complying with one of the obligations, you will be fined by the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB). The amount of the fine can be found in  the fine database of the Public Prosecution Service (Openbaar Ministerie, OM).
