Supervision of the production process
The RDW may issue an EC/ECE type-approval when it has been confirmed that the procedures in Article 12 of Framework Directive 2007/46/EC were implemented properly by the manufacturer. The RDW verifies whether the manufacturer has taken adequate measures to guarantee that the vehicles, systems, components or technical units that are in production conform with the approved type. This process starts by applying for what we call a Compliance statement for the Conformity of Production (CoP). With this certificate, the manufacturer demonstrates to the outside world that the production process has been assessed and approved for production by the RDW in accordance with the related type-approval specifications. See below for more information about how to apply for this certificate and about the role your technical department and the RDW can play in this.
Assessment of your production process
As a manufacturer, you can register by requesting the application orderform 'Opdrachtformulier CoP/Orderform Compliance Statement. Make sure that you include all the relevant CoP data in your application. Your technical department can help you with this. The RDW’s Surveillance department can also help you with your CoP certificate.
Conformity of Production certificate
The RDW issues a certificate of approval with an expiry date. As a manufacturer, you must contact the RDW’s Product Assessment department before that expiry date. For changes in your data or type-approval clarifications, refer to the 'Opdrachtformulier COP/Orderform Compliance Statement'. The information set for manufacturers (brochure) contains specific information about the RDW’s requirements, assessments and procedures.
